Rahsia Orang Kaya – Suka Beli & Simpan Emas!

What makes a great teacher?

Here are some characteristics of great teachers

  • Great teachers set high expectations for all students. They expect that all students can and will achieve in their classroom, and they don't give up on underachievers.
  • Great teachers have clear, written-out objectives. Effective teachers have lesson plans that give students a clear idea of what they will be learning, what the assignments are and what the grading policy is. Assignments have learning goals and give students ample opportunity to practice new skills. The teacher is consistent in grading and returns work in a timely manner.
  • Great teachers are prepared and organized. They are in their classrooms early and ready to teach. They present lessons in a clear and structured way. Their classrooms are organized in such a way as to minimize distractions.
  • Great teachers engage students and get them to look at issues in a variety of ways. Effective teachers use facts as a starting point, not an end point; they ask "why" questions, look at all sides and encourage students to predict what will happen next. They ask questions frequently to make sure students are following along. They try to engage the whole class, and they don't allow a few students to dominate the class. They keep students motivated with varied, lively approaches.
  • Great teachers form strong relationships with their students and show that they care about them as people.Great teachers are warm, accessible, enthusiastic and caring. Teachers with these qualities are known to stay after school and make themselves available to students and parents who need them. They are involved in school-wide committees and activities, and they demonstrate a commitment to the school.
  • Great teachers are masters of their subject matter. They exhibit expertise in the subjects they are teaching and spend time continuing to gain new knowledge in their field. They present material in an enthusiastic manner and instill a hunger in their students to learn more on their own.
  • Great teachers communicate frequently with parents. They reach parents through conferences and frequent written reports home. They don't hesitate to pick up the telephone to call a parent if they are concerned about a student.

How to Gain Control of Your Class

  1. Take a deep breath. No, seriously, take a deep breath. Ready? Breathe in, breathe out. If your classroom is out of control you are probably freaking out, but take a minute to relax. It will be okay! You will get through this. You will improve. It will take time, but you will look back on this later and see how far you came. Don’t be discouraged.

  2. Seek advice. Talk to an administrator or a veteran teacher and get advice about your specific situation. Or, join our Facebook discussion group Christian Teachers’ Lounge.Encouraging Teachers is another great group.

  3. Determine your expectations. Decide which student behaviors need to be corrected. Make a list of your expectations.
  4. Determine your consequences. While positive reinforcement is important and necessary, if your classroom is out of control, positive motivation alone will not correct that. You simply have to have consequences. Determine what the consequences will be each time a student fails to meet one of the expectations on your list.

Don’t plan a harsh response for the first infraction. Not only is this unfair to your students, but it will also make you hesitant to address them. Consider a formal warning system by which you give a student a warning for the first infraction (in the form of a name on the board, a post-it note on the desk, etc.). Then decide what reasonable consequence you will give for subsequent infractions. (For details about the system I used, read my post How to Calm a Disruptive Class.)
  5. Build your confidence. If your class is out of control, chances are you’re plagued the same problem I was – a lack of confidence. But if you’re not confident in your ability to discipline, the kids will see this and take advantage (haven’t they already?) The way to overcome this is to build your confidence with practice. Stand in front of a mirror and practice what you will say the first time a student talks without permission. Practice until you’re comfortable and confident in what you will say. Then move on to the next infraction. Practice every scenario you can think of. You can even bring in friends or family to roleplay your students. Keep working until you’re confident you’ll know what to say to your students. (As you plan your responses, remember to be kind but firm.)
  6. Have a talk with the class. Once you’re prepared and have practiced your responses, have an honest discussion with your class. Apologize for allowing them to get out of control, and tell them that you are starting a new system today. Explain your expectations and the consequences they will receive if they do not meet them. Consider having them in written form and asking each student to sign the bottom saying that they understand the expectations. Throughout the conversation, be kind but firm. Don’t lecture the students on their past behavior but simply explain that things will be different from now on.
  7. Address the very first problem. While you discussion may (or may not) get the students’ attention, it will not change anything unless you address the very first problem. It may be two seconds after the discussion or halfway into class. Either way, address the problem right away with your predetermined response.
  8. Stay consistent. The more consistent you are, the more quickly you will regain control. It won’t be easy, but you need to address every problem with your predetermined response. After a few weeks or months, you may be able to loosen up, but don’t let anything go until you’re confident that your class is under control.

Good Teaching: The Top Ten Requirements

  1. GOOD TEACHING is as much about passion as it is about reason. It’s about not only motivating students to learn, but teaching them how to learn, and doing so in a manner that is relevant, meaningful, and memorable. It’s about caring for your craft, having a passion for it, and conveying that passion to everyone, most importantly to your students.
  2. GOOD TEACHING is about substance and training students as consumers of knowledge. It’s about doing your best to keep on top of your field, reading sources, inside and outside of your areas of expertise, and being at the leading edge as often as possible. But knowledge is not confined to scholarly journals. Good teaching is also about bridging the gap between theory and practice. It’s about leaving the ivory tower and immersing oneself in the field, talking to, consulting with, and assisting practitioners, and liaising with their communities.
  3. GOOD TEACHING is about listening, questioning, being responsive, and remembering that each student and class is different. It’s about eliciting responses and developing the oral communication skills of the quiet students. It’s about pushing students to excel; at the same time, it’s about being human, respecting others, and being professional at all times.
  4. GOOD TEACHING is about not always having a fixed agenda and being rigid, but being flexible, fluid, experimenting, and having the confidence to react and adjust to changing circumstances. It’s about getting only 10 percent of what you wanted to do in a class done and still feeling good. It’s about deviating from the course syllabus or lecture schedule easily when there is more and better learning elsewhere. Good teaching is about the creative balance between being an authoritarian dictator on the one hand and a pushover on the other. Good teachers migrate between these poles at all times, depending on the circumstances. They know where they need to be and when.
  5. GOOD TEACHING is also about style. Should good teaching be entertaining? You bet! Does this mean that it lacks in substance? Not a chance! Effective teaching is not about being locked with both hands glued to a podium or having your eyes fixated on a slide projector while you drone on. Good teachers work the room and every student in it. They realize that they are conductors and the class is their orchestra. All students play different instruments and at varying proficiencies. A teacher’s job is to develop skills and make these instruments come to life as a coherent whole to make music.
  6. GOOD TEACHING is about humor. This is very important. It’s about being self-deprecating and not taking yourself too seriously. It’s often about making innocuous jokes, mostly at your own expense, so that the ice breaks and students learn in a more relaxed atmosphere where you, like them, are human with your own share of faults and shortcomings.
  7. GOOD TEACHING is about caring, nurturing, and developing minds and talents. It’s about devoting time, often invisible, to every student. It’s also about the thankless hours of grading, designing or redesigning courses, and preparing materials to further enhance instruction.
  8. GOOD TEACHING is supported by strong and visionary leadership, and very tangible instructional support resources, personnel, and funds. Good teaching is continually reinforced by an overarching vision that transcends the entire organization from full professors to part-time instructors and is reflected in what is said, but more importantly by what is done.
  9. GOOD TEACHING is about mentoring between senior and junior faculty, teamwork, and being recognized and promoted by one’s peers. Effective teaching should also be rewarded, and poor teaching needs to be remediated through training and development programs.
  10. AT THE END OF THE DAY, good teaching is about having fun, experiencing pleasure and intrinsic rewards…like locking eyes with a student in the back row and seeing the synapses and neurons connecting, thoughts being formed, the person becoming better, and a smile cracking across a face as learning all of a sudden happens. It’s about the former student who says your course changed her life. It’s about another telling you that your course was the best one he’s ever taken. Good teachers practice their craft not for the money or because they have to, but because they truly enjoy it and because they want to. Good teachers couldn’t imagine doing anything else

How to add Arabic language to Windows 8

How to add  Arabic language to Windows 8 single language :)

I was worried when the only choice of cheap-current-windows operating system is called "single language". I would really hate it if it really only support 1 language but  الحمد لله  it is not.

Windows 8 operating system by default already support Arabic. I guess all modern operating system ought to be unicode . By default it can read Arabic text without any problem.

The only thing to do is to add an Arabic Keyboard so that you can type in Arabic. To do this head straight to Control Panel. Yupe this is the tricky part, you have to figure out the location of you new location of your control panel. Once you get there simply do this steps:-

1. Double click the Language

2. Double click "Add a language"

3. Choose "Arabic"

4. Double click the desired Arabic language. I wish there were فصحى . As for now I'm trying السعودية

5. Now you should see the 2nd keyboard under the default/main keyboard. To switch between keyboard is to do ALT+SHIFT combo
